Carey Herman received a B.A. in visual arts from Loyola University, New Orleans, in 1979. She spent several years working in hotel sales and management before relocating to San Francisco. In San Francisco, Carey worked as a teacher’s assistant at an inner city high school and studied Psychology at S.F. State University in the evening. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Carey and her husband returned to New Orleans where she was employed as an account exec for an international packaging firm. Carey returned to her alma mater where she has been the office manager of the English department since 1995.
